1)Could you please specify the spatial requirements of your proposed solution? How much physical space will be needed, and where is this space expected to be located? 2) Could you please clarify what the final deliverables of your proposal will be?

Comment 1 - To grow the fungi an incubator will be needed. These devices can vary in size from the size of a washing machine to a wardrobe depending upon the scale of incubation. These devices need standard electrical plugs and can be fitted inside any enclosed space. Training on the devices and the fungi incubation will be provided. It would be best to locate the incubators at the site where the peat-free compost is being produced so the fungi, once grown, can be mixed into the formulation creating the new compost.
Comment 2 - Deliverables:
Phase 1 - Lab trials will determine the ideal conditions to grow the fungi - preferably using the solid material from the project in organic waste recycling. We would also welcome collaborating with other solution providers with solutions in AI and sensors for monitoring the inputs and outputs.
Lad tests on approximately 10 different fungi species to determine which gives the best water holding capacity, similar to peat. Tests and analysis in labs will identify fungi species to focus upon, plus grow trials will confirm successful plant growth.
Phase 2 - In collaboration with fertiliser producers, we will run trials in Crete at the compost producers site.
Trials will identify the optimal formulation of non-peat compost in co-creation with producers and growers.
Input streams and production outputs will be mapped and quantified to determine production capacity of the new formulation can meet demand.
Phase 3 - A larger scale trial will be conducted using real organic waste from Crete.
A production plan will be created breaking down the fungi production relative to input streams, incubation time formulating into compost.
The new compost will be tested in order to meet the regulations for use as a fertiliser.
The above deliverables are indicative. We are keen to co-create this project with the producers on Crete. We would be capable to re-work the deliverables pending upon new information or needs of the producers. We would also be happy to collaborate with other solution providers.
